CN Tower EdgeWalk guide — hands-free walk on the pod roof 356 metres above Toronto

The EdgeWalk is the CN Tower’s most extreme attraction: a hands-free walk around the outside of the main pod’s roof, 356 m (about 1,168 ft) above the streets of Toronto, tethered to an overhead rail. It is not part of the guided tours we feature — those include Tower admission, not EdgeWalk — but it’s the question we get asked most, so here’s the full picture. To book a guided Toronto tour with CN Tower entry included, start on our home page.

What EdgeWalk Actually Is

Strapped into a harness on an overhead safety rail, small groups step out onto a five-foot-wide ledge that rings the top of the Tower’s main pod — with nothing but air between you and the city far below. A trained guide leads the walk, encouraging you to lean back over the edge and out over Toronto. There are no handrails by design; the harness is the whole point.

Price and What’s Included

As of June 2026, EdgeWalk starts at around CA$195 plus tax (some listings show CA$199+). That price is more than a thrill — it bundles a full Tower visit and keepsakes:

Included with EdgeWalkDetail
The EdgeWalk itself≈30 minutes on the ledge, guided
Tower admissionLookOut, Glass Floor and SkyPod access
Keepsake videoFootage of your walk

Because the price already includes the observation decks, EdgeWalkers don’t need a separate admission ticket.

Age, Weight and Health Rules

EdgeWalk has firm safety requirements:

  • Minimum age 13. Participants aged 13–17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Weight between roughly 34 kg (75 lb) and 140 kg (310 lb).
  • You must be able to walk the platform unaided and follow the guide’s instructions.

These limits are set for the harness system; the staff confirm them at check-in, and you’ll be breathalysed before stepping out.

Season, Hours and Weather

EdgeWalk runs seasonally — roughly April through December — with both daytime and evening time slots, seven days a week, though daily hours shift with the season. It operates in most conditions but is paused for electrical storms, high winds, or other extreme weather, so a slot can be rescheduled at short notice. Booking ahead is essential; walks are small and sell out.

How Long It Takes

Budget about 90 minutes for the whole experience from check-in to finish, with roughly 30 minutes of that actually out on the ledge. The rest covers safety briefing, suiting up into the EdgeWalk jumpsuit and harness, and the breathalyser and gear checks. You can’t bring anything loose out with you — phones, cameras and jewellery stay behind, which is why the included photos and video matter.

Is It Worth It?

If heights thrill rather than terrify you, EdgeWalk is one of the few places in the world you can lean out over the edge of a tower this tall with a safety system doing the worrying for you — and the included Tower admission softens the price. If you mainly want the view, a standard LookOut or SkyPod ticket gets you the same panorama through glass for a fraction of the cost; our observation decks guide breaks those down, and our best time to visit guide helps you pick the clearest, quietest window.
